Aiexpress – A wellness check by the NYPD led to the discovery of a decaying body inside an East Tremont apartment building.
The body was discovered this weekend on the fifth floor of 800 East 179th Street, near Mapes Avenue.
Police said the call for a wellness check came in around 2 p.m. on Saturday, when they arrived and discovered the decomposing body. It’s unclear how long the body was there.
“It’s very surprising to me, because I never hear anything in this building or area,” remarked resident Emmanuel. “I have lived here for five years, and it’s weird because this building is quiet; there are elderly people living here.”
The medical examiner is investigating the cause of the death. The body has yet to be recognized.
