Rep. Matt Rosendale Faces Lawsuit Threat After Ex-senator Claims He Impregnated Staffer

Aiexpress – The office of Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-Mont.) issued a threat to sue former Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.) for defamation on Monday. They alleged that Rosendale’s decision to withdraw from the Senate race was due to him impregnating a member of his staff.

“Just to gossip a little bit, there’s a reason why Rosendale backed out of that Senate race,” Heitkamp said during an interview on the “Talking Feds with Harry Litman” podcast released on Monday. “The rumor is that he impregnated a 20-year-old staff person.”

Rosendale’s office wasted no time in issuing a stern warning of potential legal consequences to the former senator.

Ron Kovach, a spokesperson for Rosendale, strongly denied the allegations, calling them “100% false and defamatory.” He further stated that former Senator Heitkamp will be contacted by their legal team regarding this matter.

During the podcast interview, Heitkamp hinted that Rosendale could potentially resign from his House seat in the near future.

“I believe that the Republican caucus may lose a member within the next few days,” she remarked. “It could possibly be the congressman representing Montana.”

Rosendale made the decision to end his Senate campaign on February 15th, a mere six days after he initially launched it. He stated that his choice was influenced by former President Donald Trump’s endorsement of GOP candidate Tim Sheehy in the race.

Rosendale stated in a statement at the time that he believed the hill was too steep for him to climb, especially with Trump endorsing his opponent and the lack of resources. He mentioned that he would be taking some time with his family to carefully consider what his next steps should be.

According to a report by The Daily Montanan, Rosendale has filed paperwork to seek reelection in his House seat over the weekend.
