Security officer at Nashville Walmart apprehends suspected shoplifter

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (aiexpress) – A deputy providing security at a Walmart in Nashville apprehended a suspected shoplifter.

An alleged shoplifter at a Nashville Walmart was apprehended by an out-of-county deputy, as reported by WZTV.

A man attempting to steal from a Walmart in Nashville was apprehended by a deputy working security from a different county.

Metro Police reported that they received a ‘Code 5000’ alert from the Walmart located in the 5000 block of Nolensville Pike, indicating that personnel were in danger.

When the officers arrived at the scene, they immediately connected with a Benton County Sheriff’s Deputy who was directly involved in the incident. Metro Police stated that the deputy was in the process of detaining a shoplifter when a physical altercation broke out. In order to gain control, the deputy used his taser on the individual.

Metro officers effectively apprehended the suspect without any additional trouble. A law enforcement officer present at the scene informed FOX 17 News that the suspect will likely face charges of shoplifting, resisting arrest, and assaulting an officer.

The Benton County Deputy emerged from the incident unharmed.
