During a news conference, he emphasized that instead of suing Texas for its efforts, the Biden administration should express gratitude to the state for their actions.
“This is a topic that has been under discussion for quite some time,” expressed Crenshaw. “Our governor is a meticulous individual, being a lawyer himself, he has dedicated considerable contemplation to this matter. It is important to note that this is not a political matter, but rather one that revolves around the concept of sovereignty.”
According to the Texas Republican, drug cartels play a significant role along the Southern border. He emphasizes that these cartels have complete control over the entire border and generate billions of dollars each year by facilitating illegal crossings.
“If anyone claims to have operational control of the border, they would be lying, unless they are the drug cartels,” Crenshaw asserted. “The cartels indeed possess operational control and rake in billions of dollars annually by trafficking individuals across the border.”
Crenshaw made the argument that Texas is burdened with the responsibility of fulfilling the federal government’s role in border security, resulting in Texans being taxed twice.
