Two men were shot during a New Year’s Eve party at a restaurant in downtown Newark, according to police.
Around 3 a.m., police were called to the La Rouge Restaurant and Lounge on Broad Street for a shooting incident. The restaurant, known for hosting New Year’s Eve parties, is situated near the federal courthouse complex.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered two men who had been shot. The restaurant was immediately placed on lockdown. The victims, whose identities have not been revealed, were swiftly transported to University Hospital. According to the police, one of the victims is currently in critical condition, while the other is in stable condition.
The Newark Public Safety Director, Fritz Frage’, has stated that the incident is currently being investigated and no arrests have been made yet.
