Aiexpress – On Monday, January 15th, the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) received a call about a traffic crash at the intersection of Austin Bluffs Parkway and Meadow Lane. Officers from CSPD were immediately dispatched to the scene.
When the officers arrived at the scene, they found that one of the drivers involved in the accident had unfortunately passed away. The El Paso County Coroner has recently identified the deceased individual as David Smith, aged 66.
Authorities from the California Highway Patrol say that the other driver, named Robert Pearson, ran a red light and hit Smith’s car, killing her.
The CSPD has officially charged Pearson with Vehicular Homicide.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), this marks the fourth traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year. Comparatively, there was only one traffic fatality at this time last year. Over the past 365 days, a total of 53 traffic fatalities have occurred in Colorado Springs.
