Winter Storm Watch issued for Oregon and Southwest Washington

PORTLAND, Ore. (aiexpress) – The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch that is set to begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, signaling the possibility of an upcoming ice storm in Oregon and Southwest Washington.

The Winter Storm Watch encompasses the entire Portland metro area, as well as Cowlitz County and Clark County in Southwest Washington. This watch indicates the possibility of another inch of snow and three-tenths of an inch of ice in the region on Tuesday.

According to the NWS, heavy mixed precipitation is expected to start around 10 a.m. on Tuesday in Oregon, the Lower Columbia and Greater Portland Metro areas. The same conditions are predicted for the I-5 corridor in Cowlitz County and the Greater Vancouver area in Washington state.

If the ice storm arrives, it has the potential to cause power outages and damage trees. Additionally, travel conditions will become challenging, and the Tuesday evening commute may pose hazards.
