An Alabama man found himself in a series of unfortunate events on Thursday night. It all started when he crashed his car into a pole at the parking lot of Bass Pro Shops in Leeds, AL. Instead of seeking help or assessing the damage, he made an unexpected decision. He stripped off his clothes and jumped into the store’s fish tank.
Despite the bizarre scene unfolding in front of them, police officers quickly arrived at the scene. However, their presence did not deter the man from expressing his frustration. He got out of the fish tank, still in the nude, and began yelling at the officers.
The man’s reckless actions resulted in a long list of charges. It serves as a reminder that even the most ordinary situations can quickly escalate into something extraordinary.
Alabama Man Causes a Scene at Bass Pro Shops in Leeds
According to a report from WRPI 12 News, the man had been inside the aquarium for approximately 5 minutes before officers arrived at the scene.
According to a report by USA Today, two police officers from the Leeds Police Department approached the man as he yelled at them and jumped back into the water. Subsequently, he climbed over the side of the aquarium, fell to the concrete floor, and lost consciousness.
The man woke up to find himself being handcuffed by Leeds police officers. As he sat in the police vehicle, he ended up damaging the back door.
According to WBRC 6 News, the Leeds police chief revealed that the suspect’s family believes he is dealing with mental health issues.
After being taken into custody by the Leeds Police Department, he was transported to the hospital for a mental health evaluation. Following the evaluation, he was then booked into the St. Clair County Jail.
The man is being charged with assault on a police officer, disorderly conduct, public lewdness, resisting arrest, two counts of first-degree criminal mischief, and two counts of reckless endangerment.
