Over the course of several months, Texas and several other Republican-led states have been actively participating in an ongoing initiative. This initiative involves transporting numerous migrants and asylum-seekers, who are mostly innocent individuals seeking assistance, to major cities that are governed by Democratic mayors. Surprisingly, these cities are often given little to no prior notification regarding the arrival of these individuals.
Hundreds of migrants evaded restrictions on drop-off in New York City by being dropped off in New Jersey by at least 10 buses. According to Mayor Eric Adams’ order, charter bus companies in New York City are required to provide manifests of their passengers and their anticipated drop-off times and locations to city emergency management officials at least 32 hours in advance.
Migrants are now being transported to the Secaucus Junction train station where they are provided with pre-secured tickets for New York City. This measure aims to avoid the harshness of leaving families in an unfamiliar city in the middle of the night, while also ensuring that they have train tickets to reach their destination. Bus companies are exploiting a loophole to transport migrants to New York without informing emergency management, thus avoiding any potential complications with the passengers.
Texas has bused more than 33,600 migrants to New York City since August 2022, GOP Gov. Greg Abbott touted Friday.
In January, President Biden is set to meet with leaders from Mexico to discuss strategies for reducing the significant flow of migrants to the U.S.
