Dwayne And Wayne Henry Allegedly Involved In $3.5m Lottery Scam In Maryland

Aiexpress – The US Attorney’s Office in Maryland has announced that the brothers from Landover Hills have been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of conspiracy to commit mail fraud.

According to authorities, the suspects allegedly sent lottery solicitations, packages, and suitcases containing the victims’ supposed winnings to individuals all over the country. They used a fake address and name for this purpose.

Wayne received several packages containing victim funds addressed to “Anthony Henry” while the investigators tracked the packages sent to and from the victims.

According to the indictment, Wayne allegedly opened a pair of bank accounts to receive cash deposits and conduct peer-to-peer transfers, primarily outside of the United States.

In early 2023, the brothers and their co-conspirators reportedly deceived one of their victims into believing that they had won a staggering $5.5 million in the lottery.

JP, the victim, was given a metal briefcase that supposedly held a portion of the winnings. They were informed that they would receive a code to unlock it once they sent the necessary taxes and fees.

According to reports, JP was supposedly given instructions that if the briefcase were to be opened before obtaining the code, the money inside would be ruined by an ink pack that would explode.

According to the indictment, the Henry brothers were able to obtain over $3.5 million from the victims by deceiving them with false lottery or sweepstakes winnings.

A court date for the initial appearance has not been set yet.
