Aiexpress – In the Republican presidential primary in Michigan, former President Donald Trump emerged victorious, defeating former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley.
CNN and other networks wasted no time in declaring the winner of the race as soon as the last polls closed. It came as no surprise considering Trump’s consistent and commanding lead over Haley by a margin of 50 points or more in recent polling.
Despite facing pressure from Republicans to withdraw her candidacy, she has remained steadfast in her bid. In South Carolina, her home state, Trump emerged victorious with a 20-point lead, prompting the race to be called by the networks as soon as the polls closed. Undeterred by the defeat, the determined former governor is committed to moving forward.
Haley, the former ambassador to the United Nations under Trump, is probably anticipating Super Tuesday on March 5. This is when 15 states will be conducting Republican primaries and caucuses. Unfortunately, the polls in those states don’t seem to be in her favor. In fact, the influential Koch network has decided to cease spending money to support her campaign.
Haley has been making a case to primary voters, urging them to choose her instead of Trump. She points to the numerous legal problems that the former president is facing. Trump is currently facing indictments in four jurisdictions. Two of these cases are related to his efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election. Additionally, he is involved in a civil case where he has been ordered to pay over $450 million in fines, plus interest. This ruling came after he was found guilty of defrauding banks and insurance companies.
