A mother and her son had a miraculous escape when their car skidded on an icy patch and plunged into the Passaic River on Tuesday, according to authorities.
According to police, the woman and her son were driving southbound on Riverview Drive when the vehicle suddenly spun out of control. The woman reported hitting ice, which caused the accident. Thankfully, the mother and son were safely assisted to land with the help of a fire department ladder.
At the scene, they declined medical assistance.
The authorities subsequently removed the vehicle from the water by towing it away.
