Mother ‘distraught’ as family says Manhattan stabbing victim was home from college

Loved ones gathered at the apartment building on Washington Avenue to offer their condolences to the family of 18-year-old Denzel Bimpey.

“I received a phone call early this morning, and it has left us unable to sleep,” shared Bimpey’s cousin, who wishes to remain anonymous. The cousin, along with the rest of Bimpey’s family, declined to appear on camera. However, they did reveal to PIX11News that the teenager’s mother is extremely distressed.”

“He was returning from school, specifically Morrisville College,” she mentioned.

According to the family, the victim had recently arrived in the city from school.

“He’s an amazing kid. He’s really into sports and has a great sense of humor. He has this incredible ability to make everyone around him feel loved. He truly is a remarkable kid,” the cousin exclaimed.

Contrary to initial reports, the police have clarified that no arrests have been made in connection with this crime, despite earlier speculations about a potential detainee for questioning.

The police are currently conducting an active investigation.
