Newark Police Sgt. Kenneth Brown Dies At The Age Of 53: A Respected And Exemplary Police Officer

Aiexpress – Brown became a member of the Newark Police Division in 1997 and earned a promotion to the rank of sergeant in January 2019. During his tenure, he served in various capacities, including the Safe City Task Force and the Emergency Service Unit. These details were shared by Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka and Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé on Facebook.

“Known for his expertise within the Emergency Services Unit, Sergeant Brown dedicated the past 26 years to ensuring the safety of Newark residents and visitors,” Baraka said. “We cannot thank him enough for his outstanding service.”

Fragé said Brown was an “exemplary police supervisor who consistently offered the highest caliber of service.”

“Sergeant Brown exceeded our best standards through his impeccable work ethic and uncompromising professionalism,” Fragé said. “He will be deeply missed.”

Brown’s family will use the money raised to help pay for his funeral and hospital bills. According to a death notice, Brown leaves behind his wife Ann, his daughter Casey, his sisters Barbara and Karen, as well as a number of cousins and nephews. More than $25,445 has been raised as of Wednesday, January 24.

Sgt. Rafael Ramos, aged 59, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, leaving the Newark police community in mourning.

Visitation for Brown is scheduled to take place on Thursday, Jan. 25 at Armitage and Wiggins Funeral Home in Kearny, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 26 at the Cathedral Basilica of The Sacred Heart in Newark. Brown’s final resting place will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
