Alabama considers legislation for a state lottery

Next week, Alabama lawmakers will have the opportunity to vote for a comprehensive gambling legislation that would introduce a state lottery, sports betting, and casinos in the Deep South state.

If lawmakers give their approval, the proposal will be presented to Alabama voters in the upcoming November general election.

Lawmakers are currently considering two bills, one of which is a proposed amendment to the Alabama Constitution that would allow gambling.

The second document is a comprehensive 143-page bill that provides in-depth information on the operational aspects of the casinos, including their proposed locations and the regulations governing gambling activities.
